A regal Rajasthani monsoon festival

 

The monsoon festival of Teej celebrates fertility, nature and community life and brotherhood. In Jaipur, Teej acquires a special regal touch with public processions involving the whole city in a riot of colour and zest. The idol of Teej mata, goddess Parvati travels through the city and lord Shiva’s majestic presence completes this festival of union.

Our teej special tour to Jaipur is designed to soak in this special celebration of colour, life, and togetherness, as well as a to give you a flavour of this grand city with its teeming markets, grand forts, rich food, diverse craft traditions and the extraordinary Vaishnava culture of the city.

 

The two day teej tour will include:

  • Walks through the walled city of Jaipur (18th century) exploring built heritage, temples, food and crafts
  • Shopping in the bazaars for Jaipur specials
  • Exploring teej food, shringaar (mehendi, and other adornments)
  • Partaking of the glorious Teej processions
  • Darshans at prominent Vaishnava (Krishna) temples
  • A visit to the fort of Amer, just outside Jaipur (16th century)
